Guitarras del Mundo
Buenos Aires, Argentina
October 5-10, 2008

Once again Raphaella Smits' name figured at the posters of Guitarras del Mundo. At this years edition, the largest guitar festival of Argentina offered its loyal audiences guitarists from 20 countries, performing in 82 cities. Music lovers were served well with folk, latino, tango, jazz and classical music.

Raphaella played
on October 7 in Morón,
on October 8 in Zárate ,
on October 10 in San Nicolàs,
on October 11 in Baradero,
and on October 12 in Bernal.

This year she didn't have to face a snow storm as happened some years ago in Patagonia. But, an eccentric Spring shower during the concert, flooded the streets of Baradero, postponing the trip back to Buenos Aires. They finaly arrived in the hotel at 6 a.m.

Buenos Aires
, counts today some 3 million residents, greater BA has 12 million, that is 1/3 of the entire Argentian people. Hence the capital is the political, economical and cultural centre of the country.

At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Argentina was one of the ten most prosperous countries in the world. It attracted many immigrants, mainly from Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Engeland and East-Europe. This mixure makes Buenos Aires the most European city south of the equator.

The most famous Argentian is independence fighter General José de San Martín.
