Ljubljana in bird's-eye view
Ljubljana, Saint-Francis church
Ljubljana: Cankarjev dom
|
LJUBLJANA,
SLOVENIA
MAY 12, 2008
Raphaella Smits is invited by the Cankarjev Dom, the cultural and conference
centre of Ljubljana.
Within the framework of the "Sound of Six Strings Series 2008"
Raphaella will perform in the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall on
May 12, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
Slovenia was one of the six republics of the Socialist Federal Republic
of Yugoslavia.
After a national referendum the Republic of Slovenia declared its independance
on June 25, 1991. On March 1, 2004 Slovenia became part of the European
Union.
Ljubljana, the capital of the new state, is the heart of the political,
economic, cultural and scientific life in Slovenia.
The city center looks gorgeous, with the special architecture by Jozef
Plecnik, among many other highlights.
Last but not least Sovenia is also well-known for its Lipica Stud Farm,
the most important horse-breeding center for the Lippizaners.
